I collected three news leads from different internet sites. I used articles from "ABC," "Fox News," and "NY Post." The ABC article talked about a man fatally shot by a sheriff's deputy outside a Colorado middle school who wants to take legal action. This article used a summary lead. The article started with a summary of the entire post and gave the reader detailed information in the other set of paragraphs. It answers the five Ws of journalism and tells the reader what happened to the victim and why he wants to sue. It does not elaborate on the deputies who committed the crime and the reason for their actions. This lead caught my attention right away after reading the first paragraph. I prefer to read an article with a capturing title and topic sentence.
