Growing up with video games

Video games have been a way to escape reality since I was seven. I remember, as a kid, I would play on the Wii with my two siblings. We would play our favorite Wii game which was Wii sports. My favorite mini-game on Wii sports was track racing and tennis. I enjoyed how interactive the game was. It made me feel energized after coming home from school.

Games nights with my family always hold a particular spot in my heart. It was great having those moments when you could all come together and have fun. No matter if we were fighting hours before, we would still come together and have fun. Playing the Wii together introduced my love for video games and gave me a passion for new electronics.

When we got a desktop in our home, my mom allowed me access to her Facebook account. The reason she allowed us on Facebook was to play the games there. We would play games such as candy crush, animal planet, and sims. My favorite game to play was Uno because I could invite my siblings are friends from school to play with me. I loved games with online features that allowed multiplayer.

My favorite current and past online social games are IMVU, Small world, WeeWorld, and Habbo. These games allow you to create an avatar expressing yourself or your dream character. You can make new friends, create a post, dress up your character in various outfits, and create a home. These games are similar to the Sims franchise but online with people worldwide. I hope games like these keep evolving and we get new virtual worlds.

I enjoyed watching game plays of video games on youtube. That was my favorite era of youtube back in 2014-2018. My favorite gamer YouTubers were Markiplier, Pewdiepie, Jacksepticeye, and Berleezy. Watching their video games helped me escape from reality for a few hours. People who make videos reviewing and playing games help me figure out what game to buy next. I respect honest reviews of games.

I brought my console in 2017, and it was a PlayStation four. I used the money that I earned from a summer program called jump start. It was a paid-to-learn summer program that paid me 1000 for completing it. It was worth my one month of summer to earn all that money. I got my console from the game stops for 400 dollars. I was lucky enough to get the controller with it without having to pay extra. The first game that I downloaded was sims 4. I was so excited to be able to play it finally.

My favorite video game genres are visual novels, life simulations, choice-based, horror, and adventure. I love visual novels because it's just like reading a book. It has art representing the characters, and sometimes you can make choices that change the pathway of the story. I love games that allow the player to make choices. Life simulators are those calming games I like to play after work. My favorite life sims are Sims 4, Stardew Valley, and Kynseed. I love these because it's an open world where you can do anything. I like to farm in Stardew, have a family in sims 4, and fight creatures in Kynseed. There are so many options for the player in any of these games.

My favorite video game studios are Telltale Games and Quantic Dream. They are the top studios for choices based on interactive video games. My favorite video game by quantic dreams is Detroit becomes human. Detroit becomes human is an interactive fiction that follows three androids going through different struggles that will intertwine. It's a fantastic game, and I recommend it to anyone that wants to try out their first choice-based game.

My favorite game of 2022 is the quarry. It's a horror interactive horror game about camp counselors stranded at the camp for a night during the season when there are werewolves, so they must survive the night. I love this game because choices affect who will survive the night and who will die. It has so many endings that I can replay it more than twenty times. It even has a multiplayer feature to play with friends or family in person or online.

My taste in games is constantly changing, and my preference for consoles is too. I prefer playing on my gaming laptop now instead of my PlayStation four. Games will always have my heart; I will love them even when I'm old and gray. I hope one day I can introduce video games to my feature children. Maybe one day, I will make an interactive game.

  1. I liked the way that you went through your history with video games and expressed what they mean to you. You also were able to provide much detail about specific games and why you enjoy them. This blog had a very personal touch to it.
