Cup of tea

The story behind Lacey Fletcher's tragic death would make anyone not trust their loved ones to care for them in an unresponsive wakefulness syndrome. Lacey was only 36, and she suffered from a condition known as locked-in syndrome. According to the National Institute of Health, "Locked-in syndrome is a rare nervous system disorder. People with locked-in syndrome are: Paralyzed except for the muscles that control eye movement." You would think that Ms. Fletcher's parents would take care of their daughter, knowing that she cannot care for her wellbeing, but that was not the case for Lacey Fletcher.  Robert Blades                                        Video of Mr.blades talking about the arrest of Mr & Ms Fletcher         It has been fifteen years since Ms. Fletcher was seen in the public eye. According to one of the neighbors, Lacey was last seen carrying ...

If I saw a police officer attacking and brutally beating a homeless man, I would interface. Firstly, I would take a quick photo of the brutal attack because the evidence is essential, and I don't want to be accused of something untrue. There would most likely be bystanders recording this scene because that's how the world works now. We watch injustice happen to innocent people and never stand up for them. I would discourage the officer by yelling at him to stop and telling him that people are recording everything happening. Getting physical with the officer would put me in danger, including everyone around us. A police officer attacking the community they are supposed to protect is not right in the head. It's highly wrong to watch someone get brutally beaten and take a photo for your editor just to get paid.

This blog will discuss the Lyft stock exchange and what I discovered. The company's market capitalization is 3.1 billion as of today. Lyfe is trading its stock for $3.49. That's pretty affordable if someone is interested in buying supplies for Lyfe. Lyfe's enterprise value is 3.18 billion today, but it was 12.11 billion in March 2022. Lyfe seems to be doing well and will continue growing as people buy their stocks.

I asked about six friends if they could name all five freedoms granted by the first amendment and it was hilarious to hear them tell me. I realize that a lot of people including myself don't realize our rights and I think it's because of how the world is. Some of us don't have the privileges that most do where it's normal to have these rights. 2 out of the 6 people I interviewed knew their five freedoms granted by the first amendment. After talking with them, I took the time to read the amendments again to refresh my mind on them so I can educate my friends in the future who are unsure of the rights.

Video games have been a way to escape reality since I was seven. I remember, as a kid, I would play on the Wii with my two siblings. We would play our favorite Wii game which was Wii sports. My favorite mini-game on Wii sports was track racing and tennis. I enjoyed how interactive the game was. It made me feel energized after coming home from school. Games nights with my family always hold a particular spot in my heart. It was great having those moments when you could all come together and have fun. No matter if we were fighting hours before, we would still come together and have fun. Playing the Wii together introduced my love for video games and gave me a passion for new electronics.  When we got a desktop in our home, my mom allowed me access to her Facebook account. The reason she allowed us on Facebook was to play the games there. We would play games such as candy crush, animal planet, and sims. My favorite game to play was Uno because I could invite my siblings are friend...

Can you guess the celebrity? They are from new jersey and began writing music at 17. She started her music career on youtube and Tumblr, where she would post videos of her performing different songs. One of her original songs blew up on Soundcloud and led to her being contacted by various recording labels. Before she got the stage name, we knew her as she would perform under different stage names. Her stage name refers to a station on the new york city subway in Brooklyn. She spent a lot of time there as a teen. In 2014, she released her debut EP which charted on the billboard 200. She opened for Imagine Dragons in 2015 for their North American tour. One of her musical influences is Justin Bieber, and she even got to collaborate with him on one of his songs from his album Purpose. Her collaboration with The Chainsmokers gave her a boost of fame and success in 2016. She continues to influence music in the pop genre and cr...

I collected three news leads from different internet sites. I used articles from "ABC," "Fox News," and "NY Post." The ABC article talked about a man fatally shot by a sheriff's deputy outside a Colorado middle school who wants to take legal action. This article used a summary lead. The article started with a summary of the entire post and gave the reader detailed information in the other set of paragraphs. It answers the five Ws of journalism and tells the reader what happened to the victim and why he wants to sue. It does not elaborate on the deputies who committed the crime and the reason for their actions. This lead caught my attention right away after reading the first paragraph. I prefer to read an article with a capturing title and topic sentence.       The Fox news article is informative and reports on Minnesota officials urging ammo factory workers to test kids for lead exposure. This article a...

There needs to be more clarity regarding the differences between a new story and a news release. I will explain the two in the most straightforward ways so you can understand. News stories are usually about a person or people. They can contain a lot of information regarding a situation, for example, politics. If a politician is exposed about his controversial past, there would be a news story about it. It would contain details about the incident creating backlash and the politician's statement. This would be considered a news story because it reports about the main topic, informs the audience about the relevant details, and keeps them updated with the latest details regarding the ongoing story. A news release is information from the community or offices with different titles, such as communication directors. Journalists would use this information instead of coming up with it by interviewing the person or people. In simpler terms, a news release ...

Ten Minute Interview                       I interviewed a classmate in my algebra class to learn about their hobbies. His name is Alfie, this is his second year at BPCC, and his major is criminal justice. His hobbies include gaming, drumming, partying, and creating art. His favorite video games are Fortnite, Valorant , and League of legends. He has been playing Fortnite since it came out, but it does not have the same charm as it did years ago. He had been making art since he was seven years old, but it became a passion as he reached his middle school years. He told me that he used to do digital painting with beer. He also enjoys going out with his close friends to clubs, arcades, and the movies. He loves the vibe he gets from going to the club around midnight and hitting the dance floor with his sick moves.                   The interview was quickly over afte...

In today's blog, I will discuss the differences in media consumption. I had the opportunity to interview two college students and two adults ages 40 or older. The study consists of determining their top three sources of news. I found out their preferred ways of consuming information and their least. At the end of this blog, you will see the similarity and differences in media consumption. Let's start with the two college students and compare their preferred ways of consuming news. I ask both subjects to list their top three ways to receive information from least to favorite. Subject A list started with the internet, hearing input from someone you know, and television. Subject A explains why they believe television is the most reliable way to receive news. Subject A says, " there are a few channels dedicated to that, the news and event that happens at the moment, which for us usually is all the time someone being robbed and a group of neighbors mad." They feel that t...

Hello Everyone! My name is Myra, and I'm nineteen years old. I'm from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and I moved to Louisiana in 2014. Some of my hobbies are writing short stories, playing video games, tennis, and reading. A fun fact about me is that I have a podcast I started two years ago with my best friend. We talk about our life, interview people, and play silly games on our podcast. I decided to attend bossier parish community college because I was interested in pursuing a career in journalism. My major is communications, and I hope to transfer all of my credits to a four year after completing my education here. I wanted to join this course because it would help me gain some knowledge about news writing and learn the type of writing skills in this field. I hope to gain an understanding that I can use in my future career from this course. The field of journalism is so important to our society today because it's how the entire world keeps up to date with the latest events. It...
